The moderators seem very keen on locking down duplicated thread topics. So why does the PH team keep creating duplicates via the news articles? The latest one being the article on Clarkson when there was already a thread on it in SP&L http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

Eh?

Not quite sure where I follow you here:

Users alone can create new threads by 'commenting' on a news item - wherupon duplicates can and do occur.

They are not a result of the 'PH News' team doing it themselves.

Where this happens, and we try our best, we do zap newer threads once one has been started to ensure that lively discussion only occurs in the one thread - rather than five of the same...

We have asked for some code to be implemented so that once a news item has been 'commented' on, the user is directed to the existing thread - but as you can appreciate, Petes list of things to do is quite large thumbup
