Can't help thinking the recent flurry of moved threads is being counter productive.

Take Lois's thread about her duff TV, moved to Computers and Stuff..

If the thread had remained here, it would have attracted more help and advice, wouldn't it...?

I'd certainly never think of looking in the computers forum for a TV problem!

Agree it seems like more and more threads are being moved. Unless they are ridiculously irrelevent, what harm are they doing staying here?

I know!! I carefully considered where to put that thread and figured it didn't fit into a specialist catagory so P+P would do, but apparently not...TV stuff in computers, who'd have guessed it hehe

Looks like another one of mine....

We don't have a forum for electronic gadgets or TV's specifically (yet), I for one have been moving all TV related threads to computers and stuff for a couple of years and to the best of my knowledge no one has complained previously. Why Computers and stuff you ask cos TV and Computers are these day's very similar in the types of screen they use and similar problems screen wise can effect both types of system. It also collects home entertainment items together.

OK lets try the other shoe on, what would you do IF there wasn’t a P&P forum? Perhap that needs another thread in P&P OH Hang on! or should be website feedback? smile

Smack your legs...rofl

The point I was trying to make was the availability of a wealth of advice and experience out there in PH land that's being made unavailable when threads are moved, purely because the bearers of relevant knowledge might not visit the more obscure threads...

The TV one was just an example....

I don't seem to be making myself clear...

If I need some advice, I used to be able to draw on the vast wisdom floating around the P&P (or not rolleyes)

If my thread is moved to a backwater, I am effectively disconnected from that pool of wisdom...

Peeps don't log on and search the forums for opportunities to pass on their wisdom...

But they might just spot such an opportunity in t'P&P...

OH but you do.

I know of many many PH'ers that don't go into there P&P forum because of all the adolescent wise cracks and crap posts that certain PH’ers continually keep posting. Whilst you may have the P&P forum set as a preference I would hazard that there are far many more PH'ers that don't choose have it selected.

It would not be so bad if it was used as a haven of knowledge, but alas at certain times it is used as little more than a chat forum! I thought that’s what MSN was for?

Have a look on any night and see how many wise cracks you can see posted on genuine questions, OK I admit that some are bloody funny, regrettable however very few fall into that category.

Perhaps you just need yo get out (in the PH forums) more. smile
