Who moderates the moderators?
Discussion
Just wondered if there was an unwritten rule (or even a written one) about how mods use/abuse their powers?
In General Motorsport, a thread title has been changed from "Whining Hamilton" to "Winning Hamilton" - it now (presumably) reflects the view of the mod who changed it, rather than the person who posted it originally.
In the Scottish Independence thread in P+P, one of the mods edited the post of someone he was arguing with, which surely isn't good practice.
Not a general complaint about the mods - I think the majority of them do a great job and get little or no thanks for it, but who decides where the mark is and whether a mod has overstepped it?

can't answer specifics cos I ain't been here all day, but in general PetrolTed and Garlick are the final arbitrators as to what we do. We all share a forum called the Moderators forum (yeah I know corny but hey!) most of what goes on around PH appears in this forum including any (abuse) reports that any PH'er can send in on any thread that is running. So If you got a gripe or you think that something is unjust press the report button some one of the mods will soon see it.
Not a lot to add to Big Als post jamieboy.
The moderators do a great job of keeping the site in check (we have over 250,000 posts each month), especially considering they are all volunteers- and are usually still at it while most are in bed.
I'm sure sometimes we make a mistake or two in the eyes of the reader, but I assure you that everything is done for a reason and the editing or removal of posts are not done without due consideration.
I'm not familiar with the incidents you mention i'm afraid, but we'll have a look into it.
If you ever want to report anything, please use the report button, as we'll all be notified of the problem.
HTH?

Don't want anyone locking in a cellar but that change of the thread title does change the whole meaning that OP had when posting. In General Motorsport, a thread title has been changed from "Whining Hamilton" to "Winning Hamilton" ...
If it was done in a jokey way then maybe it could have been flagged as such.
