This thread was actually quiet funny, not that rude and was getting a lot af contributors so why close it. Other threads are far worse and in some cases are miles across the line, this was just a bit of completely harmless fun and in this case it was an abuse of mod power with no warning.

No it wasnt and no he shouldnt..

It was another shit "Look at Nigellas funbags" thread. The last one was closed in 1 post. That one should never have run for 3 pages.

The fact that did was the very inconsistency that pistonbroke had cried about before, only this time he welcomed it.

This thread should be closed too.

I know its not everyones cup of tea but maybe it wouldnt be a bad idea to let a thread run now and then where we can have the odd bit of childish fun,its good for the soul dont yer know. wink

I recon 'dazren' has a thing for her.
I can see no 'good' reason for closing another Nigella thread. It just puts a marker against the mod in question that i then give a name to.
Not sure who is being more childish really.

I agree. But another one on Nigella. Same old pictures and everything?

We could at least wheel in some fresh meat now and then?

Abuse report received. Thread looked crap. Similar threads have been closed by Ted so this thread was similarly closed.

Can't see what else there is to discuss.

I'm happy to close threads that are similar to those that have previously been closed by Ted and the other moderators....

I'm sure I sent an abuse report when a thread turned very nasty. (many moons ago)

It wasn't locked.

Guess there could've been a glitch in the system?

Err no! they didnt close this thread, you did. In the past other Moderators may have closed similar threads and maybe on the same subject matter but not without warning

Spoken like a true doorman(with small man syndrome).

This thread was also full of "crap"(but funny)
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
but obviously falls outside of the 'mod-on-a-box'delete button.

Whether you were around to see the precedent thread closures is irrelevant, shirley?

Are you saying mods are accountable to you? How much do you pay to use the services of this site?

Other moderators have both closed and deleted threads without warning. Nowhere in the site rules does it state that moderators have to give warnings about intending to close threads, following abuse reports.

If you unhappy with the way this thread was dealt with please feel free to contact Ted or Garlick via their profiles.

I'm signing off from this thread for now. wavey

I would give it a rest if I were you, and I wanted to continue to contributing to the site.

As Mods, we give our unpaid time to try our best and keep PH at the level of decent content that you most likely joined up for.

We get sod all thanks for it, and as such don't appreciate your comments like that.

Daz did what he thought was right, and I would have done exactly the same thing - indeed I was the one who zapped the last Nigella thread.

Too many people here are getting arsey about something so blatantly rediculous to be getting arsey over.

Yet more whining about the mods. Who gives a shit? A mildly amusing thread gets closed because it's a bit puerile? How can anyone get exercised about that? Sense of proportion? The mods are volunteers who make this place run more smoothly. Good on them. If some decisions looks a bit arbitrary, well what do you expect when they're having to use their judgement and wading around in grey areas?

The posters are what made PH what it is, free or not. Would Haymarket have been so keen to buy a site that no one used?
