On another forum I have been on, there is a preview function that means when you hover over a topic you can see the first few lines of it and thus tell whether it's worth your valuable time opening it or not. Is this something that could be done on PH? Or am I being horrendously naive to what is involved to enact such a device?

Kindest regards and in no way dissatisfied if this does not come to pass,

Suspect that would be pretty horrendous for site performance - the first x characters of each thread would have to be stored in the thread listing page which would add loads of filesize, or it would have to be an AJAX request back to the server when the thread is hovered over - either way it's lots more bandwidth / server requests.

I have added it to the list for future consideration.

It's not that much more required, it would just be added to the link description, say 100 characters, it really wouldn't be a massive strain.

One thing I'd like is to see maybe the last six or ten posts of a thread at the bottom of the 'reply to topic' page. Not live updating, or anything - just the last few posts as they were when you started to reply.

Please dont do this.

I find it really annoying on other forums.

There was a post last month asking for this functionality, if it was added as an option to see I think it could be useful to some. It is on the future list, but as I say it needs to be switchable on or off on the page, or in preferences.

Bump for a worthy feature in the user preference interface.

I too like this idea it will help cut down on the clicking on some threads only to find drivel instead of something interesting. Just hope its near the top of the things to do list.

WHY! Pete has said it's on the list for future inclusion.

Well perhaps by bringing it to the forefront again, others may contribute further, thus proving a higher need for the feature at the next 'meeting'.
