I've been getting those a lot too. I've just been browsing Classifeds and it was really such a pain I may as well have had dial-up. Very, very exasperating.

PH seems to running like a sack of shit recently. When it was 'Ted PLC' I could have understood it, but you'd think a company as big as Haymarket could afford some decent servers.

My gripe as well,
in former hands this site had a certain cachet of disappointment, we came to expect, the search not work
or it would go on a slow-down regularly,

this upgrade much mentioned in hushed tones not so very long back, was I thought to have signified
cutting edge behaviour,

instead of which I've read numerous complaints, and spent an evening myself
much pissed about when all I wanted to do, is gawp at classifieds

Tarzan wouldn't stand for it in the old Haymarket days

Like Linux servers - running Apache?

I fear not, as I get ASP errors popping up quite often too.

I'm not going to start the Microsoft vs the world arguments, they are never endingly recursive. The fact is that this site has been built over 8 years to the technology it is running on now, and thus foregoing a major rebuild of the site which will take upto a year with the current resources, we have to tune the technologies we have now.

We have implemented brand new servers which Haymarket have spent a lot on, and have invested in two further servers recently to handle images which should be in place before xmas. The servers put in recently have made a massive performance boost to the site, and it wouldn't be running now if that wasn't done. Last month alone we had the largest increase in posts to the site, up nearly 10%.

I accept there is still a long way to go on making this site run problem free, and it seems to be a bit like putting a new optimisation method in and then it is used up by another increase in users... and so on, daily.

We are working very hard to sort this out, so please bare with us.
