I've had a look for this, but can't find it. Over the last few months the quoting system has gone mad! Thought I'd mention it.

Any specific examples?

We are aware of problems quoting usernames that have non alpha-numeric characters (eg. @,% etc). Is this what you are refering to?

Hi Pete. Thanks for the response. Sorry, I didn't give any detail because I thought this was well known. Frequently in threas when you have nested quotes beyond two levels, which text is attributed to which person goes all wrong. There are loads of examples all over the place, and lots of people have commented on it lately.

I can't think of any specific examples, but the next time it happens I'll post a link to this thread.

Here's one example:

I've tried (in vain) to search for more, as I can remember loads of people mentioning it over the last month or so.

Not a exactly a show stopper, but a bit annoying and I thought I'd mention it! smile

Those all look fine to me, what is the problem with them? confused

(apart from the fact one person changed the quote system wrongly which he admits to later on)

It's when you quote on something that's been quoted already and it changes round who's said what. That may not have been a good example that I gave above. It's common though, and plenty of people have said "what's up with the quoting system lately" recently. It's an intermittent error, which is truly bizarre!

I guess we'll both just keep and eye out! smile

Another problem is that when you quote a post that has an emoticon in the header, the forum defaults to giving your post that emoticon as well.

I'm fairly sure I've just hit 'quote', added my comment at the end and it's come out all wrong. I';; hold fire until it's happened again, and then quote the specific example.

Only time I have seen this problem is when someone quotes something but tries to edit some out, usually messing up the quote tags in the process.

Maybe I'm mistaken? I'll keep an eye out smile
