Ah well, I thought it was too good to be true. Looks like it's back to normal again now. Shit response times and plenty of "Sorry an Error Has Occurred" pages.

So much for the optimisation eh?

The keyword was ongoing

Though at 9.30ish last night one of the database servers suffered a fatal crash, which doesn't help things.

OK, I'll forgive you for allowing a server to crash, though it is damned unprofessional and exceedingly unsportsmanlike. hehe

The problem is not so much that the system is unusable - although it certainly is at times - it's that the performance is so bloody erratic. One minute it's flying along, the next it's practically dead.

Not good. It's hardly any wonder people are really pissed off with it.

This is something we are working extremely hard at narrowing down to why.
