Editing other peoples' posts

I'm sure the Admins know what this is about now. Perhaps time to check for a bug in the PH software - my other half came in the other night, logged me out of the kitchen pc, logged himself in and found himself editing my post.

I had originally posted a lot more than this - when Pod went in to quote my post, he deleted the bits he didn't want to quote, and then found after he'd submitted it that he had actually edited my post.

I can't say that I can get particularly wound up about the banning topic, but if C2 has been banned without discussion with him, then I would counsel PH Towers to check that he actually edited someone else's post on purpose, rather than thinking he was quoting them before this goes any further. This is reposted from being buried in the Carrera 2 thread.

It appears that what you stumbled across here is the same bug as he was using, but he definately didn't do it by accident, he was changing his username each time to make it look like the OP had made the edit.

We closed the hole at the time anyway, so it won't happen again.

And C2 has had warnings in the past about his abuse of certain members.

So why didn't Ted ban the person that changed them to help me 2 years ago when FrenchTVR posted photos he'd found without permission??

The hole was there, it was known about, it was not blocked.

Yes, C2 was a naughty boy for exploiting it, but should only have been sinbinned - it is not like he did an Outlaw, and he is STILL here and posting!!!

Did you miss this when I posted it in the other thread that was locked in Website Feedback - seems a few missed these details there.

And Rude-Girl has just pointed out that it has been done to her posts by mistake in the past too, although that was without Ted's knowledge, when it was done to mine - he knew about it as we'd been trying to get hold of him, or any other mod to delete the pictures without success...... so someone kindly exploited the loop to do that. As I recall, Ted had a quiet word via email and they promised not to do it again

There was a loophole before my time working here that, after the last incident, was fixed. This was then reopened by the new design to the forums back in May-ish last year, which has been closed again.

I wasn't aware of the previous problem till you mentioned it, but know from the code development it was blocked after you spotted it last time.

Hope that helps clear up the lifespan of this problem

Not that I'm upset at all...just curious as to how it happens really...although it could be used for darker reasons by somebody so inclined I suppose.
