Love the way that Marki pissed off a few of Stigs friends and got banned in the Ultima forum. Some sort of banning nepotism at work there.
I agree with Bodo - this faceless sort of dictum has no place on PH. The grown ups among us appreicate the sometimes thankless task that moderation can have, so lets have some clarity eh.

That would be a fair comment had it been me who banned him - however, it wasn't (I wasn't even aware of the thread or the ban until this morning) and as I'm sure you well know, marki had been warned about it several times before.
Oh, and if you read previous threads on the Ultima forum, it's pretty clear that those who were moaning about marki (Kyle, crafty etc.) aren't exactly my 'friends'
As you rightly point out, moderation can be a thankless task - and your post is a great example of why!

A few years ago I'd have agreed with you. Sadly not all site members behave like grown ups. You'll be surprised to hear even I'm now in favour of the anonimod function being available to moderators.DAZ

Spot on. He's there winking and joking about Marki being banned with them when his Ultima forum mates are making threats against Marki.Check it out he even removes the winking smiley(regarding Marki being banned) from his own post but the quote shows it later.

whilst I agree with the sentiment, that did make me laugh out loud...It'll probably make me even more unpopular than I already am in certain quarters but I've always worked under the rule that if you cant say something to someones face you probably shouldnt be saying it at all.
As such and as a mod, I dont think anonimod should be used, or perhaps even be available to us at all, personally.

As you all know, I'm not shy of pulling people up when they step out of line or threads go bad, and I've always done it against my name so that people can enter into discussion with me regarding it.
But its clear, backed up by Daz, who as most of you know, isn't shy, that in recent times on PH, being a moderator is very much a soul destroying thankless task of which can create undue stress - why the hell, as unpaid volunteers, should we be subject to a constant barrage of stress from the moaning of the few in order to keep the quality of posting and content for the many?
We (as Mods) discussed the usage of anonimod - some Mods prefer to help out anonymously, in order to NOT get the crap thrown at them, and some, including me, prefer to stand up and take what comes (like now). However, with the recent high jinks and elevated bun fighting, there was a general consensus of showing a uniform level of moderating - which anonimod was one - giving an impression of less personal feeling going into it.
As it was, I felt that Rod was starting to contribute absolutely nothing other than sexually related crap, something of which encourages further purile threads and injokes, most of which are unfunny.
Its to be noted, I hope many will agree, P+P has been much better to read in the last week.
Hopefully by working hard to keep it that way, people will keep coming back to contribute and read.
I'm NOT going to enter into any discussion regarding my decisons, I make these based upon my judgement as best I can - sometimes wrong, sometimes right, however I do it for the good of PH - NOT for Haymarket - please remember ALL of the Mods also read this site, and want to continue doing so.
I hope you'll respect me explaining my decision, and that this will end this discussion regarding why there are no names to comments - it is NOT done to hide - moreover so as to not antagonise.

Oh for God's sake - it's a website! Noone died, noone got ripped off, tortured, mutlilated. Someone was prevented from logging on to a motoring website, that's all. If Marki hasn't got the nous to sign up again as Micki or some such, then he can't be that bothered. All this hand wringing about nepotism, jobs for the boys, cliques, is just such a load of rubbish. Trying to keep tabs on all the morons and troublemakers, and trying to keep the peace, is a never-ending task, and diverting moderators onto threads to complain about one person being banned, whether rightly or wrongly, is just internet navel-gazing.
Guys, if you have a serious issue with Marki being banned, can you please e-mail paul.garlick@pistonheads.com or any of the Haymarket team, and state your case.
