presumably the relatively lengthly thread about "gays" in the P+P is an example of the new, approved, bar-raising threads??

FFS indeed

What's wrong with it? It's opened up quite an interesting debate as far as I can see

Haven't read it. If it bothers you that much report it. The mods don't read everything that's ever written on PH.

On the rare occasions I've been able to read PH this week I think the P&P seems to be better than it's been for about a year/18 months.

ok - if you say so -- I'm just confused at the apparently random nature of "allowable" topics / insults / nob gags / swear words?

either we let them all through or none at all!

Because the mods don't read everything that's ever written on PH. We are not employed to sit here all day in front of our screens and censor everything that is written. We are not employed full stop! We don't get paid for doing this and as much as this may shock some people, we have lives outside of PH.

I find some of the comments made about women offensive, but if someone insulted me personally, I'd ask another mod for their opinion, i.e. am I just being sensitive, and if I wasn't, I'd ask for it to be removed.

If you don't report something you are offended by, with a clear explanation why you've reported it then please accept that we are not mind readers.

I'm not concerned, probably one of the more liberal posters and doesn't concern me in the slightest. No real insults, genuine discussion. Don't see what the hassle is

But we couldn't do that could we, instead we'll instigate a daily mail style outrage that someone has expressed an opinion on a subject that's not even contentious

Couldn't agree more, seems to be a lot more sensible posts, less of a 'Chav' element.

Yes, a real quality debate:

some gems from the 'gays' thread said:
because gays are funny!
Some are like Alan Carr, he can raise a smile purely because he's like a cartoon, but they seem to be everywhere at the moment.
.........
It's a conspiracy.
.........
Ooh I love the gays! they're all just so bloody poofy!!
.........
Christ they're on here as well.
.........
I don't think gay people really exist. I mean, why on earth would a decent, red-blooded man wish to insert his penis into the bottom of another decent, red-blooded man? Or, worse, have a penis inserted vigorously into one of his orifices. Can someone answer this question? Can they?
.........
gays are AWESOME ....... the more the better..... more flange and tiddies and bootie for me!
.........
I touched a gay once, but its ok I didn't catch it.
.........
I drive a TT
does that make me a Bum Bandit???

Yep
.........
Who cares!

As long as entertainers make other people laugh, thats there job, who cares of they are gay or not ?

Chill out mate

Snakes with dicks?

Unaccepteble Gays

It is the attention-wcensorede and mincing aspect that irritates me

I blame that awful little ponce Julian Clarey

Well, you have to admit, there are some very valid points in there, especially the TT comment

the quality of the threads hasn't really changed that much over the years, we've always had these type of threads, what we haven't had to deal with as much is the idiots trying to be as contentious as possible and out shock each other...

Why don't you lighten up you bloody tit?

If you don't like it you don't have to read it, much worse things happen in the real world than a bunch of grown ups having a giggle about gay people.

Jesus, why don't you wrap yourself up in cotton wool and stop reading the Daily Mail?

I hate to think how you'd cope in a real pub where censorship and moderation doesn't occur.
