Telephone costs to classified adverts

Hi there, has anybody noticed the cost of calling one of the 0707 numbers which accompany the adverts in the classifieds if the seller has selected that option. This is where the seller wants their actual number hidden (protected)
A recent call made by me: 0707******* of 00:13:07 mins on 28th February cost £5.575, that is not even a little funny, no joke at all. I have looked in the forums and seen no posts on this but felt it necessary to bring it to the attention of all potential callers. Alternatively if the seller takes this option the call costs should be referred to in the advert where the number is listed or indeed it should be a cost to the seller, not the enquirer.

I did read it and then decided not to bother calling the seller via 'phonesafe' and went to the Autotrader site instead and found the same car with the proper phone number visible anyway, but phoned another instead.

It's worrying if they are pulling those sort of strokes now. Very much NOT in the spirit of PH.

The call costs do vary due to the mobile phone operator, calling from a landline is the cheapest option due to the premiums put on by those mobile operators. We have also made the option of using PH PhoneSafe optional for the seller, as well as allowing any buyer to email the seller if they do not wish to phone the number.
