Can I ask why the Amy Winehouse thread has been left running if you have closed the railway crossing? I personally can't see any difference in the comments in the 2 threads.

As far as I can see the railway crossing thread has been closed because of Nubbins personal feelings rather than someone breaking the site rules.

I'm with Nubbin. Who hasn't taken a risk at some point or other and got away with it? What that woman must have been thinking in the last few seconds of her life simply doesn't bear thinking about.

I'm not saying nubbin is right or wrong I'm saying both threads have similar comments yet one has been shut and the other left to run and run.

Perhaps the difference is that one is still alive and the other isn't. People just seem to be more aggressive of late confused

And "et voila", the wh0reh0use thread is also closed.

They were both offensive - good call PH mods.

I congratulate Nubbin on his stance. I know sometimes I overstep the mark but to find some sort of morbid pleasure in someone killed in a horrific accident like the poor girl was or someone slowly killing themselves through drug abuse when there is clearly something mentally wrong is totally distasteful.
However much of an arse I've been in my life my underlying natural instinct is to help *anyone* in their time of need, and without judgment. I'm seriously starting to wonder what sort of world we live in with some of the callous and spiteful remarks I'm reading lately frown
Thankfully Nubbin and a few others have helped restore some faith.

Sorry - I went offline after closing the last one. I was just posting something on the Whinehouse thread, pressed the "post" button, and bugger me, it had been closed!. Sorry - I'll try to do better next time.

If you have a problem with my closure of the train thread, tell me what exactly is it that you object to. Do you feel it was a worthwhile and uplifting debate on the frailty of the human condition, or just a bunch of loudmouths sounding off like a modern take of a Victorian freak show? How much difference is there between pillorying that dead woman, and the kicking to death a woman because she was dressed as a Goth? The thread was offensive, pointless and had been complained about. So, not just my opinion.

No problems just curious that's all.

IMHO both threads should have been shut. No matter if someone is dead or alive people should not being saying that they wish someone dead or are "happy" someone is dead.

Sorry - I'm in an abrasive mood tonight - I didn't mean to sound so scathing about your comment. No offence intended. thumbup

ETA - and I absolutely agree with your opinion. It is vile to wish someone dead just because you don't like their musical style. Jeez, what is the world coming to?

I agreed 100% with nubbin's sentiments on the railway thread and the closing of it. Some of the comments were disgraceful. I also wondered why the AW thread hadn't been closed either, but assumed it was because no-one had complained.

And now I see there's a thread debating the original reponse to the train thread which will undoubtedly end up with people defending their right to make callous, crass and offensive posts in the name of free speech while hiding behind the anonimity of the internet.

No-one had complained about teh Whinehouse thread at the time, when they did, it was looked at and then closed smile
A lot of the time, if theres no complaint it gets missed, there is so many threads on P&P, do not get time to read them all.

She did look awful though, like she needs a good bath and a detox hehe

We have the same insensitivity being shown right now on the thread about the 87 yr old grandmother that was raped.

I mean where on earth is Pistonheads getting these morons joining from.

I'm glad to see a few people with some morals here, this comes on a day when 4 pages have been dedicated to someone being unhappy with the way another forum's rules work and the fact they are a bit more strict than PH.
