PH Stickers - Why so expensive?

I was just about to buy some PH smileys for my car, and wondered why they are so expensive? I used to have a vinyl plotter, so know how much they should cost..

Shame really, could almost be free advertising.

We haven't put the prices up on the stickers, so they retail for the same price as usual.

Are there any particular ones you feel are expensive? Or do you mean in general.

Sorry you feel that, we always aim to offer good value, as you say it is advertising too.

Well, I bought a few of the 9cm smileys - which is about 20p of vinyl. You can buy 1 meter square of white vinyl for around £2.

They stickers are £2.50 each. Thats about £2 profit per sticker if you include the backing paper, time to 'make' the sticker (peeling and backing), or £8 for my £11.98 order!

Not a huge issue, and I suppose the answer is 'we need to make some money'

Edit: I suppose it could be your sticker-supplier over-charging you. In which case, sorry

Yes we do make some profit naturally, but no more than in the Ted days, the aim is to sell stickers to gain advertising/ raise awareness and for PHers to enjoy rather than make ££££. We leave that to regular website advertising!

Sorry you feel that way, Sue (PH Shop Manager) drives a hard bargain with suppliers and always does her best- i'm sure she'll use your comment at the next meeting she has with them

Depends on volume ordered it could be anything from fair to really rather poor. Back in my graphics days We used to make far more complex stickers for clients to give away FOC that only cost a few pennies each, but if you are only getting a handful at a time...

Could be it - are they ordered on a per-customer bases, or in bundles of 1000's at once?

The guy I sold my plotter to would probably take on the job if you need a new supplier.

I mean really, ffs do you shop at oxfam because you aren't happy with the original shop making a profit?

It get's really tiresome with all the random complaints coming in, the prices haven't changed since ted's days and stickers aside, i've got no complaints with anything i've bought from Sue.

I still have a vinyl cutter, (it's a great way to make money if you know how ti use Illustrator properly.)

The calculations seems a bit off on your materials though;

£2 per metre @ 60cm wide
= approx. 60 stickers per metre.
= 3.33p per sticker

Add the backing and you might make it to 5p!

Something of that size and complexity will be easy to weed out.

Postage 32p or whatever it is now.

I work for Haymarket, maybe I'll wander round and see them...

What about the cost of the vinyl cutter itself, PC hardware to drive it, software, office space, time to design and print off the stickers etc...
