Prob with Wikis

Looking at the "All the cars owned by Pistonheaders" wiki in General Gassing.
When I view the article, the list seems to stop mid-way through the Vauxhalls (i.e. it's missing volkswagens and so forth).
When I click to update the article, all the info is there.
Any ideas, ta.

I've had a tidy up which should sort this out for now.

This problem is caused by our forums having a maximum displayable length for posts. It is set very high and was not forseen that people would ever reach it, although the introduction of wikis has changed that.

When a post goes past this limit it does not lose any data (as you can see if you go in to edit it) but it is just not shown when you are looking at the page.

To avoid this, it is necessary to keep the post compact, as it is a physical size limit rather than a characters/lines limit.

It is also worth considering breaking up large wikis into smaller sub wikis (like has been done in the all cars wiki with the Audi, BMW, Porsche and TVR sections already). This has the added bonus of making it easier to read than a flat list.

Is the suggestion just to break it up? Surely there shouldn't be a finite limit on the length of a wiki article? What happens with Wikipedia?

There is no limit to the amount of the data which can be stored, but unfortunately there is currently a limit to the amount which will be displayed on a page.

We are looking at changing this in future, but for now the best options are to make sure the formatting is as compact as possible or, if that fails, split it up into seperate sub-wikis
