Fuzzy smilies

Why have the smilies gone all fuzzy? They look like they've been smudged.

Yeah, that's kind of where I was heading. My Orange mobile broadband proxys all content on the server and resamples images to smaller filesize before serving up to the phone, was wondering if it was something like that.

No, it's just Virgin 20MB (max) broadband, otherwise known as XL. I frequently get well over 10MB so it's not exactly mobile speed.

Have you changed the size of your fonts in the browser as this will make it look like they are fuzzy?

No, and they're not fuzzy on any other sites.

Sounds like something is reducing their quality between our servers and your screen, though cant think what it could be as we have made no changes here, and my 20MB Virgin broadband at home has no problem with them at the moment.

You could try right clicking on one of the smileys and getting the address of it from properties and then open it up in a seperate window and see if it is still fuzzy.

Right, in a new window they are fine but if you click out then back in they become fuzzy. They must be cached like that somewhere.

If I set the zoom to 125% in IE7 then the smilies appear all fuzzy

Definitely not, it's a weird one this. Text, adverts and everything else is fine, as are the same smilies on other sites.
