Some people seem to be in favour.
Everyone on here has a common interest. (And many are into cars too)
It would take some of the pressure off P&P

You seem to forget that this is a car website.

If you want a dating website - then there are plenty to choose from.

Perhaps it would be easier to go to the dating websites and ask them to start an automotive section.

Forget it - it won't happen.

Yes this is a car website but there are also dedicated sites for computers, music and current affairs online and yet there is still lots of activity here on those topics.

To be fair, there is a section for Watches! And there are loads of relationship threads in P&P...

yes My justification exactly. At worst it ends up as a laugh.

I followed the other two 'dating' threads (serial lurker!) so thought I'd vote on this one smile

I think it could work. If I were single I'd consider PH as a reasonable starting point. Common interest of cars + lots of spelling and grammar pedants = Kerching!biggrin

Just because it's online there's no real difference to say getting chatting to someone at a PH meet up or similar, just less faffing around as people's interests (ie. they're single and looking) are declared upfront. Sure, there's room for error, but no more so than any other online dating site or even meeting someone in a pub who, after the beer wears off, is not all they're cracked up to be.

I was thinking more a Q&A section on dating and relationship advice rather than any actual service. As mentioned there are many matchmaking sites.

Hmmmm, 35% in favour to some degree! What level do we need to make it worth a try?

I'd say more than 50%, although my maths isn't that strong.

But with it being in the 'website feedback' section, just how many people know it's here?

And I think at least 50%

I thought that it would be a relevent section as it is aimed at getting a new forum. And if anyone hits "What's new" they will find it.
Or I could ask mods to move it to P&P?

So what exactly is the Pie & Piston for???

It was created purely to get the non-car topics out of General Gassing. Since it's inception in December 2004 we've had forums added for boats, watches, food, sport & music. All that's left for th P&P is relationships/domestic and current affairs/politics.

We've already got thousands of members who don't seem to realise this is a car site as it is.
Well said Gaz

And since we only have 23% in favor, hopefully we can put this idea to bed for now.

If the P&P ever starts to become overcrowded with a certain type of thread then we do look at creating a new forum but we have to be careful. unless there is a very strong need for it creating a new forum can just create two backwaters out of one busy forum.

Although I think it would be cool, how would it work?

Surely anyone who posted in it would get sgged off. And many people here have their "reputation" to uphold, they wouldn't want people knowing they were trying to meet women/men here.

There is also the problem of the ratio of men/women. And I think we would run the risk of gold-diggers turning up. Most of the people here have great cars and all you have to do is look at their profile to see pretty much what sort of dollar they're running about with. That is a prospecter's dream come true!

Yeh but there is a lot of 17 year olds too now

Opps, that just didn't sound right hehe

I ment, there is a lot of average people on here too, who don't have the expensive cars. And anyway, am sure the richer guys are used to it

I get enough grief from the wife about the time I spend on here.

If she thought I spent all day on a dating site I would be finding a new partner alright.

It's bad enough with the "you love that car more than me" accusations.
