why are you using port 81 for some webstuff?

email just arrived about farago's story on porsche. This is the url:

port 81? Why? Anyone with a decent firewall configuration wont be able to get out on port 81.

Why would they be getting out on Port 81? I can see that the server will need to answer the request on port 81, but beyond that I don't understand....
