umm, it's all in the title really. When I clicked on the PH shop banner, it directed me to the homepage rather than the shop.

Ah...

That's a banner that is supposed to be displayed for people whose IP addresses suggest that they're not in the UK.

Not my decision or my technology, Shell don't want to advertise their Optimax to non UK readers.

After all, Optimax is no longer in some countries; it's been renamed into V-Power.
Strangely enough, V-Power comes with 100 octane in some coutries, and with 99 in others. Would be difficult to reach those drivers with an Optimax campaign.
