Is it just me or is the tone of the P&P increasingly bigoted. Banter is banter, however it seems they are trying to out-bigot each other some people. Doesnt bode well for people who just want to debate things...

I agree, and it is something that we are looking at as we speak. P&P needs to get back on track, and we will do what it takes to do so.

As an example of over zealous modding of another forum - I was banned from Talkbass for referring to a japanese made guitar as a "Jap strat"

while we don't need that level of nannying - the level of vitriol expressed in the P + P is over the top

I think the major thing is that to an person who stumbles upon the P&P, they would think differently of pistonheads...is a PR thing as well surely.

I can remember the days when PH was about talking about cars. If you wanted to 'chat' about other stuff you were encouraged to go elsewhere.

I'm sure P&P generates a good amount of traffic and so pulls in a nice amount of ad revenue to keep the site going. However it'd probably be better to put it on a different URL so people don't stray into nicer areas and cause problems.

Agreed. Althought the P&P has it's place and some topics and the things people have to say are interesting, of late it has become somewhat ignorant, unintelliegent and worst of all off-putting to some people.

Oddly enough, over 65% of our audience comes from the classifieds. I was surprised when I first heard that, but it's still true today. That's why we have 2 million unique users and under 200k registered to post- the majority just want to buy cars or read editorial copy, news and features.

If anything, the content of P&P turns away potential advertisers, especially blue chip brands.
