Scam advert

I know these are ten a penny these days but thought I'd play along, so I emailed "Samantha Coles"

Got this reply:

Ha ha...I had exactly the same reply for an Audi TT..word for word!
There seem to be alot of fake adverts for low price TT's at the moment, have to say though the admin always remove them after I report them...they seem to be going onto RX8's now though....when will they learn??!!!

HI sorry to sound a bit dim here but how do these scams work,as I think I may have replied to one. They have not asked for any money or anything else and have answered all my questions and are willing to meet me to see the car etc.

The car is still available for sale.I live in Paris,France and I`ve recently inheritated a flat in South Kensington,London.
Since I live in France I have no use for the car as we drive on the left side here.I have all the service records available.I drove the car once and I can
tell it is in a very good condition,very well take care of inside,outside and the engine.I can lower the price to 3,500.00 to ensure a fast sale.
The car is the garage of my property,I have no problem coming to London to arrange a meeting and make the exchange in person

Various ways, but usually the car does not exist - you will pay their "shipping agent" a larger fee, and they will pay you back the difference with a dud cheque. Either that or the money will go to a fake escrow company.

The fake escrow scam is the one that is normally related to the dodgy adverts, the dodgy cheques one normally applys when you are trying to sell a car,

If you got the same email as somebody else about a different car then it's a scam (or he's a dealer).

Either he will ask you to pay the money (for your own safety) to a "trusted" escrow company to hold until you are both happy with the deal, then you get the car and he gets the money. Only the escrow company doesn't exist and he runs away with your money and you have no car.

If he wants to meet up he will probably hit you over the head with something and steal your money!

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is
