Hello

Im denied access to the stolen stereo thread, ignoring the fact that I actually used sentences in my arguments against single explitive using cretins, there is now a muppet (wilto) on there trying to link my views in some illogical way to me condoning rape...!! FFS!

a) Please can you ban the right people from a thread rather than jumping on the 'one' in the one to many. I can more than hold my own.
b) If you must deny me access then close the damn thing as not having the right to reply is just wrong.
c) Your coding is flawed; wouldn't allow me to report the aforementioned post either due to the denied status, obviously posting on a thread and notifying a mod should not be under the same permission sets.

According to you, leaving your property in your car means you "deserve" to have it stolen. Somebody drew the parallel to women dressing provocatively meaning that they "deserve" to get raped.

The parallel is a good one. Both statements are wrong. You are a tool. HTH.

You could have posted "Sorry to hear this - unfortunately, leaving stuff on display means it is more likely to be pinched", but you were altogether more confrontational and then seemed surprised when the thread kicked off!

How on earth is the two a parallel? Thats like saying a car is equal to a house because both have doors. It was not good reasoning and done because either the poster had a low IQ and actually believes it or, the more likely, to cause more provocation by going to extremes.

My comment wasn't meant to be confrontational or by definition 99% of posts are confrontational, a forum post has differing views by different people and if a person starts a post then he has to expect that- this is not the op's personal shoulder to cry on (Just see the replies to the numerous "is my partner cheating" threads for much worse). I take a tough stance on these things, thats my right and other are fine to disagree and reason why.

The parallel is simple, I'm surprised you can't see it:

Person lives their life as they want to, perfectly reasonably, and without inconveniencing anybody else. Person suffers loss with their actions as a small contributory factor.

It's crap, it's unfair, it's not right, but there it is.

You reckon that it "serves them right" confused

There's an element of helping yourself - don't leave stuff on display in your car, don't walk round dodgy areas in a low cut top, miniskirt & heels. You *should* be able to, we all know it's not a good idea though.

It sure as hell doesn't serve anybody right though.

Hope that clears it up for you.

Hello Amir

The nail has been firmly hit on the head here. PH is a friendly place and usually we show compassion to our fellow members when they have suffered.

As your comment was serving to only stir up the thread and take it off topic, you were removed from the discussion. Something we can do at our discretion.

I really can't add anymore to this, and I hope it answers your question.

Big Al.

In reply to your points above
1) IMHO I did ban the right person from the thread, you may well be able to "hold your own" you probably can BUT can you do it without the abuse?
It didn't look like you could on that thread.
2) Why should the thread be closed because you can't be civil.
3) Thank for your comments about the coding I dare say that little snippet of criticism will have the hamsters working overtime this evening.

So in order not to restart the discussion in here, this thread will also be closed.

If however you feel that I have been heavy handed in my moderation style then please report this directly to Haymarket directly.

ETA don't bother regarding my last sentence, as it appears you have the final word from Haymarket.
