Cant figure this one out.

When looking at cars in the classifieds, viewing by advert age, I'll see maybe 2-3 pages that cover the past 15 or so days, then it starts again from "12 hours".

Infact it also does this for the price...

Its fustrating, as you look for new cars say under £1500, get through 2 pages then it starts again.

At a guess, it's the premium adverts.
Some advertisers pay to have their adverts appear first. So if you arrange by date, the premium ones appear newest-oldest and then after that the normal ones appear newest-oldest.

Spot on, give that man a cookie (oh, we already have nerd )

If you are in a big category then the 'Filter' tab at the top can be very useful though. It will let you cut down the list to just the relevant cars, saving you from scrolling past ones you are not interested in.
