It isn't a "not supposed to be online at work" issue. People are allowed to surf the web at lunchtime at many places of work. However if morons were allowed to post with no swear filter or post porn links or anything else like that then the web nanny filters will cut in and stop people being able to connect even if they are allowed to surf the web in their own time.Furyous said:

Whilst I agree there is SOME crap in the p&p 80% of it is OK, why punish the majority because of a few idiots....
If I need to know how to fix my washing machine or ask investment advice p&p is invaluable..
A good spell in the sin bin should sort 'em out......

It's worth remembering that new users can't post in P&P until they've been a member for a couple of weeks.To be honest I'm not so worried if posters find ways of fooling the swear filter. If *they* have fooled the swear filter then it's unlikely to be being picked up by any traffic filters...so it's only that which is on the screen.
I don't feel the need to do it myself but I am less worried about it perhaps.
Clearly this is different to people deliberately doing something like this (quote post to see what I mean).

The swear filter is there for several good reasons, including staying child friendly and maintaining common decency as well as the reasons above, so I see no reason why we shouldn't start handing out punishments for people who intentionally evade it.

My point was that if you are going to punish people for circumventing the filter then you had better make sure that the filter doesn't NEED to be circumvented in the first place.
