I really don't fancy having to correct all the multiple update errors. Is there a common idiots guide to using the Wikis somewhere. If not there should be a Wiki for wikis to linky to hehe

I think part of the problem is that the (my) design doesn't encourage the creation of multipe small interlinking wikis. There's a means of linking between pages, but it's not used much so we end up with monolithic Wikis.

Thats fine Ted, but shouldn't we have some kind of user guide explaining how to cut & paste from the history to recover these situations, as well as warnings that keeping a pending update on screen is likely to overwrite some poor (faster typing) sods work hehe I'd expect there are additional gotchas that I have not foreseen...

I was really asking/proposing if we should start some guidelines for this, and keep them in one place so that only a link in each wiki is needed to refer to them (much like the formatting help, smilies and RulesofPosting linky's).

That's the problem really. The history function doesn't give the formatting code so reinstating a cocked up Wiki is difficult unless you get a moderator to roll it back.

P.S. There is a locking process in place to prevent overwrites.

It's actually not that bad, you just change the quote syntax to the # of the older wiki version and then copy + paste back into the wiki.

But then i'm guessing that's an unintentional feature, but it works pretty well without letting every tom dick + harry do it.

You've gone and told them all now! curse

Actually I didn't realise that it did that, i'll have to give it a try and make sure it doesn't cause any problems!
