I was under the impression that the mods closed threads with a comment, rather than simply deleting them?

That is a very good point.

The answer was Derbyshire anyway so the poll(s) was superfluous.

There is still quite a bit of deleting which happens, generally very soon after a topic has been posted. Most of it is for mundane reasons, such as adverts posted in the forums or particularly crap or offensive topics.

If you are not noticing it then it suggests the mods are doing there job very well!
