I was just wondering why various posts have been moved out of readers cars an into the specific car sections?

I like seeing various members cars and it would be a shame for them to only be hidden away in their specific area which I never visit because I don't own one of those cars.

We are currently reviewing the relevance of this forum, recently it looking like the New Mini owners forum.

It was originally set up for builds, restorations and modification. I don't thing it was ever meant to be a forum to display pictures of your cars, and lets face it with around 200K members it would be a free for all.

As I say the forum is under discussion ATM so expect to see a few changes.

Was just going to post on this....

For what my opinion is worth, I would rather they all stayed in Readers Cars, as I don't frequent every different 'make' forum on here, but I still really like seeing peoples new cars. I also don't think there are too many threads in there for things to be bumped off of the 1st page every five minutes.

Anyway, it's not my 'train set', but I hope my opinion has some bearing on what changes happen.

I'm a big fan of the readers cars forum, so I'd like to see it stay. It's nice to see pictures of someone's pride and joy, and it would be a shame to lose that as I have no intention of going into the individual marque forums for this.

Let's face it, several parts of PH are already a free for all, why should readers cars be singled out for attention?

Another vote for keeping readers cars as is.

The interesting projects keep bubbling to the top, the more mundane cars pass quickly through...

yes

it's always a good one to dip in and out of and there's always some really interesting car/builds which I'd never find otherwise

it works well as it is IMO

I agree with this - I regularly visit just to see what's there, as you say there've been a lot of Minis recently but the more interesting cars stay around for chat.

+1

its like the 'good news' section too, never much negative in there with people always being proud of what they have, no matter how big or Mini smile

Please leave things as they are, it's one of the best bits of PH.

Whoops. Thats exactly what I assumed it was for and it does seem to serve that function fairly well smile

No it wasn't, as I stated earlier it was set up for restorations, builds, and modifications. One thread this week has quadrupled it's popularity and to about 20 members viewing, most on that post weren’t even interested in the guy’s car.

A new member saying hello, that could have been accomplished in Gen Gassing.

160K members and about 15-20 members viewing a niche forum.

As I say it's under discussion at the moment. smile

Are we talking about the same Reader's cars because I see over 41000 posts in this area - just under the amount of posts in Website feedback in fact which has a massive 45000.

using that logic shouldn't TVR events and meeting be binned judging by the amount of posts?

But more than 5 regular members ask for it to be set up, and I think you'll find that there are a good few number of Tivvers across the TVR forums.

And then instantly lost amidst all the noise. I rarely go in GG or the P&P as it's often crammed full of utter drivel and the same unfunny joke repeated 50 times on every thread.

20 members have created threads in the last few days - far more than several of the other sub-fora. Many more members have responded to those.

Speaking of niche forums.. Cooking? Watches? Scale models? Yeah, I'd definately single out READERS CARS for removal from a motoring forum before I looked at those.

I suppose what I can't understand is if the thread is going to get created anyway in one of the other forums, what difference does it make?

Sorry to cut this short but I don't intend to expand on this anymore.

I DIDN'T say it was going to change, I said it's under review as are other forums on on PH.

No worries - hopefully you've been made aware of the fact that it'd probably be odd to close it. So we've contributed to that review in a positive fashion.
