Classifieds Query: Filter out entries "Sold By Pistonheads"

How do, folks.
No search results for this, so apologies if it's been asked before. Is there any way to filter the Classifieds searches to exclude items marked as already sold?

You could search via Google, for instance entering

TVR site:http://www.pistonheads.com/sales -"sold via pistonheads"

Mine is in the classifieds atm and I found the sold cars very useful to gauge price and which adverts were getting the cars sold and which models were selling. A 'sold only' field would be very useful.

Sold only is a good idea.

SEO is all well and good.

But when you're searching for something to buy it's flippin SO irritating and annoying having to scan through solds.

If I wanted to see 'solds' I'd look for them.

If a user marks an advert as 'Sold' then it disappears from the listings, It is only the 'Sold Via PistonHeads' adverts that stay visible for a short while.

We are looking to improve the classified search tools in the near future though, so we will look into including some way of filtering them out then.

It wasn't for that reason that I implemented it.

Quite simply I wanted to show (back in the early days) that selling via PH worked. Cars simply disappearing from teh listings didn't give the section much "feel" or "life".

Obviously it works extremely well now so has become a potential irritation

Safe to say as users of the site we feel the pain too. So, we have redesigned the classifieds (not drastically, don't worry) but means we can put a better filtering/search service at the top of the page. This will include the ability to filter out sold cars (or filter them in if you want to gauge price). This is a 3/4 month project so will be on the site in the summer.

In the short-term we feel that keeping sold cars on for the 30 days like the rest of the classified ads is a little overkill, so over the next week we will be implementing a system to remove sold cars after a few days of being sold. This will allow people to see the current market, but not over populate the area with sold cars. Hopefully this will be a happy compromise.
