Here's what I think is a valid suggestion.

We have a Mates section, that doesn't actually do anything, but it would be nice to have a button on a thread that you can recommend to your Mates. It could be added to the drop down section (eg Latest/My Stuff/etc) as "Recommended".

There are a few threads that I'd like to point out to a few friends, and vice versa.

Also it aids coming back to PH after you've had to do some work. Friends will keep you informed of the important threads (eg the funny/embarassing/etc).
