What a beautiful colour
Thank you, amythest purple I believe it's called. What a beautiful colour

Yes, I see your point about the average week, I suppose many people go away this weekend etc and do family things.
Sorry I deleted that other bit about Easter in case anyone thought I was being awkward, now it looks funny

It also takes a little while for our monitoring software to collate the number of page impressions, and this is as important as the post count since it shows what the people who only ever read think.
are people who only read really as important as those who contribute? if we didnt contribute there would be nothing to read. That really does sound like spin to me.

I also doesn't take into account people having to post multiple threads because nobody is reading them in their new "homes".
Not sure that I understand that, but if you mean people reading multiple threads, then no it doesn't but the number of extra clicks would be tiny anyway as a proportion of the overall traffic generated on PH. If you mean people having to start multiple threads then I'm afraid I'm just

I love it, it looks like it's flip colour slightly or is it the light?
It looks blue/purple and oddly (this may just be me though, my OH disagrees) green now and again too... It does just depend on the angle and the light.. In good light it's just plain purple though (it's not reflex in that way, nor starmist)..We were actually looking for a Purple Paradise, but this one came along.. Oddly, I'd never seen another one in 7-8 years in the car club, then two weeks after we bought this, the same colour Chimaera came rolling through the village...........

If the page impressions and post counts were massively down, would it signal a return to the good old days? Or has that ship sailed never to return?
It's not just dependent on posts counts and stats. The "user experience" has to be taken into consideration, (and not just the users of website feedback
). The new categories are very active, and the Lounge is being used for the old P+P stuff. It's all still under review though, and nothing is set in stone (but don't read too much into that, I'm not suggesting ANYTHING). Early days....To be frank I think the User Experience is down, dramatically down.
To my mind IF the traffic is significantly lower (the entirity of the new P&P sections contrasted with the old P&P volume of traffic) then this indicates that the users are not happy.
That's why I was asking about the volumes really, because I think it is far, far worse now, less amusing, and more difficult to simply determine where to place a question and also to bother to look at all the sections. An example is the Tipping thread, now when that was in the lounge I replied to it, since then it has been moved to the Food section so I don't bother with it anymore. Perhaps I am just a lazy surfer.

The fact is, few people come here to talk about food and drink. Or TV and Films for that matter. The attraction is talking to like-minded people (in this case people who like cars, in the main). Whereas someone won't actively go into Food & Drink to see what is in there, they may very well reply to a thread about tipping or burgers or whatever if they happen to see it. This was IMHO what made things fast moving. In the past, one could refresh one's "My Stuff" page every minute and see constant change. Now it can be literally hours or days.
O/T in the recruitment space this would be termed as "passive job seeking" - i.e. I may not actively go looking for a job but if you stick an interesting one next to something else I'm reading I might well click it.

I now have the definitive reason for re-instating P&P - on IE7, if you drag across the top menus, the sub-menus stay on the screen. When P&P was there, you could just get at the hyperlink when the 'My Info' sub-menus are on the screen - with the 'Lounge', the hyperlink is totally covered, so you have to go all the way back to Gassing Station, then on to the Lounge.
There you go then, there can be no other way round this than to bring back P&P.
btw fwiw etc I wholeheartedly agree with the main gripe - I usually just flick into the lounge in idle moments, so now I am missing about half the chat I used to enjoy in the P&P.

Saw him again yesterday and I asked how he was getting on with it....his answer was "I don't bother now". He now just visits a few of motoring forms on here he likes and then moves on.
The most telling thing though is that he said that doesn't come on here nearly as often now.
I think the management would say that it was working in that case. As far as I can see, the P&P was an embarrassment to Haymarket and I think neutering it was the plan...
For the record I still think it's not working. It's too compartmentalised, topics don't get the exposure that they used to, and it's a pain in the arse to navigate around. Not to mention that the What's New is still no use to me with only one level of favourites - for example, Porsche is in my Faves, but I don't want to see all the threads in it all the time, I will dip in when I feel like it.
For me it's ruined the P&P - but that may have partly been the point...
