I think this one isn't working too well. Specifically the "News" bit. I've seen stuff moved there that would be better off staying in another subforum - the latest example being the Bruno vs Eminem thing.

That's TV really - it might be news for a day or so, but so is Apple's announcement of their new iPod OS. Or England's latest rugby squad announcement.

News is too broad a context to have it's own forum, imo - the content usually falls within another subject.

That only happens if you're using a Samsung monitor whilst posting. And listing to a Bose stereo.

Okay, but if we were to scrap "News" from the title then we would end up with a large number of news topic with nowhere to put them.

It's also one of the most successful of the new forums, so I don't really see a problem with it.

Is that tracked on "original target forum" or "where it got modded to"?

Opinions are always welcome!

If you remember, in the first few days of the new P&P we had "News & Current Events" and "Politics & Economics" as two separate forums, but there was far too much overlap between those two so they did get merged.

I agree that there can be overlap between the sub-forums and news, but I don't see it as a major problem. If there is a subforum then most of the time it will go into that (rather than news) unless it is some particularly big story which is making the headlines, in which case it might go in news as it will likely appeal to a more general audience!
