Outdoor pursuits

Hi,

There doesnt seem to be an area for outdoor pursuits, for want of a different phase, ie walking/nature/wildlife/spring/autumwatchy,type things do you know what Im getting at? However Im aware you probibly dont want the website watered down from its origional subject matter. Still it seems a very popular hobby with young and old alike and there seem to be many other random topics which have specific areas ie watches! Its not a sport as such but more weekend enjoyment, I love my cars and I love getting out and seeing the birds and the bees, as many others do which is evident in the photography area... just a thought.

Could it be considered or trialed.

There probably isn't. Even www.lfto.co.uk doesn't seem to have much traffic.

Although Haymarket does have an Outdoor Leisure division

I'm happy to add it to the list of ideas, but I'm not sure it would draw enough traffic to sustain itself.

We'll keep an eye on the lounge over the next few months as the weather gets better though and if quite a few topics start to appear then we'll give it a shot!

I just would like to know what you would do with this place if you were in charge.

That depends if it was a hobby/sideline or a main source of income.

As a hobby, I would ensure as little dilution of the site's motoring focus as possible.

But Ive also said elsewhere that I understand how that may be at odds with a business model and Ive also pointed out that its easy for forum users to overstate the importance of the forums to the site overall. Hence flouncing off will make diddly difference.

It doesnt alter my opinion that the OP's assumption that Haymarket would be against any form of dilution of the site, is an easy mistake to make.


ETA: Which is not nor is it intended to be, mod-bashing. So why the defensive?

Fair enough. That thread is a very small and light hearted but thinly veiled barb. Call me paranoid...
