I posted up here saying I had a spare ticket for the F1 yesterday. I wasn't able to make it so it was going to go to waste. I was asking for a donation - a donation to charity which Cara Van Man and I agreed on.

Now, there have been loads of posts on this thread since I have last been able to look at the thread so have no idea what's been going on now it has been deleted. For "advertising". FOR CHARITY. It's not like I'm making money or anything.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a joke??

Cheers

Hasn't it just been relocated to the charity sale of F1 tickets forum?

Seriously?

Even if you did advertise for personal recompense, what's wrong with doing it quickly, at very short notice on a motoring forum to shift a ticket to a Grand Prix?

If curtain twitchers want to keep bouncing a thread up and keeping it alive by moaning then that's their issue.

Gavster:

Yeah, I know - and there are several threads advertising for charity on here.

DrTre:

I tend to agree - I posted it up less than 24 hours before the start of the race as I realised I wouldn't be able to make it and it was going to waste. I thought that someone on here would love to go (even though it was only a single ticket) so I posted it up. It was going to be wasted so I decided not to take any money and give whatever was offered as a donation to charity as it was going to just get binned anyway. I was right - 5 or 6 guys wanted the ticket, CVM got in first.

I hope he had a good day!! smile

It does seem slightly laughable.

As you say - 24 hours before the start and you find you have a ticket that you can't use.

You could have thrown it away. Instead you asked if anyone on a friendly motoring forum wanted it, in return for a donation to charity.

Its not as if this was your first post ever or even that you were wanting the cash for yourself (which still wouldn't have been that bad)

I really don't see the problem with things like this - i think it shows how good a community the forum is that people are willing to give each other first "dibs" on things like this.

Ah well.

ETA: Hold on for the move to Website Feedback. wink

That's a pretty damned good way of putting it!

The friendly community is the whole point and why I posted it up here.

I wanted to reply to the e-mail I got to get back to the mod who deleted the thread incase they didn't realise the money was going to charity.

Anyway, if anyone is interested CVM and I agreed on a 50:50 split between his charity - Help for Heros and mine - RNLI.

I would like to know what the reason actually was behind deleting the thread and how it was too?

Just curious as to why

Cheers
