Wiki limits?

is there a limit on wiki sizes?

the MPG one appears to be a bit fubar'd at the bottom....

40,000 char limit iirc. I think someone's just cocked that one up. Someone's editing it though so i'm sure it'll be sorted out in a second

yeah i've just been trying to sort it....

all the info is still there if you 'update' the wiki, but it's getting cut off, as you say, after the char. limit....

can this limit be increased?

it'd pretty much ruin the wiki if it had to be split up.....

You get a little box pop up saying you're nearing/over the limit. Copy the content and paste it twice to see what I mean - just don't submit it .

So, you're under the limit.

nah it's getting cut off after the westfield....

if you copy the url's to the top, it cuts of half a dozen car's from the bottom.....

so it's defo a limiting factor rather than an editing factor

The nice limiter is a bit of guess work rather than an accurate countdown. The problem is that the code you put in (eg [img] for images etc) is shorter than what it gets translated to to show in the forums when you view it.

Thus we have made an educated guess at what the limit for entering is. If it is full of images and tables then it doesn't predict the limit correctly and you can go over it.

We are still looking into the best way to increase Wiki lengths.

would you like me to split the wiki into two? ie A to M and N to Z.

or is this a short term problem which will be resolved shortly?

or i could save it as an Excel file for now, and host that til the problem's resolved and just leave the Wiki for new entries?

Best to split up, some other wikis have done that. This is an ongoing problem so best that way
