Abuse earlier in the day?

I got this error for a few days about only senior members being able to post due to abuse earlier in the day. What was all this about?

It's happened 2 times - lasted a few hours the first time, and then a few days the last time (which happened during the Christmas week).

I sometimes close the Gassing Station to new joiners when there's been someone causing trouble on the site.

Anyone already signed up should still be able to post.
