Browsing our beloved watch forum I came across a Rolex for $50, a bargain I thought until I realised it was fake.

The mods should really evalaute the type of advertising google are filtering onto this website, I think the whole concept of fake watches goes completley against pistonheads which brings together like minded honest individuals, rather than theft.

Soap box away,

Rolex for $50:

I think it'll get noticed in here just fine, the senior prefect is after all a watches man and I'm sure will be along shortly to pass comment

I'll move to WF and also flag this up to Stuart who's our watch guru.

Thanks for the heads up. smile

Actually that's got nothing to do with the moderators, we only moderate the forum postings. We have no input to vet or remove adverts or advertising.

Was it the $50 that gave it away laugh

Thanks for this. Quick question for the OP - where are you viewing PistonHeads from? Is it outside of the UK?

I can sort of see that as after all the advertising funds the site, but it's like advertising fake MOT certificates or driving liscences, it goes against the grain of what people think is morally correct (IMO)

Stuart I am in the uk, however in hindsight I think my company has an American intranet/web as the BBC also thinks I'm outside the uk.

Thanks - that's really helpful.

We've deployed Google Display ads to all overseas visitors to the site this week and there are a couple of little teething problems like this. Please do report anything odd that you see though, as we clearly can't see it from here in Teddington. I'm waiting for my travel pass to be approved so that I can temporarily relocate to the Beverley Wilshire to monitor the situation as it develops from a non UK IP address, but my FD doesn't seem to want to return any of my calls...

I was just trying to explain that there are 2 distinct groups with different rights. The Moderators (not employed by Haymarket) such as myself who can do nothing about it and then the PH admin staff who are employed by Haymarket like Stuart, Garlick etc... (who have extra names under their username/post count) who can.

I'm viewing from Algeria - the ad on this thread is Rolex related but not fake ones.
