Possibly doesn't want to be associated with PH if, when somebody posts about the severe illness of their beloved pet, people react in a way which is quite disrespectful to the OP's feelings. Clearly the OP was new here and posted the topic in the wrong sub forum, a mistake which is easy enough to make. A few people had a go at him for this when it clearly wasn't the time to raise this issue, or at least not in the way which it was.
There were some idiotic and insensitive replies to that thread which I found personally distressing and embarrassing to read, I didn't think they contravened PH rules to report though. Otherwise I would have.
I suspect the culprits have been admonished, although they haven't admitted it publicly, just to say they have been banned from The Lounge for a period.
Rubbish like that doesn't deserve this much attention or people quitting PH.

you can hit the report button any time you want if you feel that a post is offensive or insensitive, we would still look into it and take appropriate action if neededMatt172 said:

I understand that, & to a degree, why he feels that he doesn't want to be a associated with PH after that thread. But there are idiots & fools on any internet forum & there are many comments that I don't agree with or think are disgusting, many comments are just in bad taste.I never feel associated with these comments or the people that post them just because I am a member of PH. Sometimes I have to count to ten to stop myself posting a response or starting an argument.
As I said, he has no reason to feel associated with those people or that thread & I think it's a shame that he or anyone would want their profiles removed because of the actions of a few mindless idiots, the same sort of mindless idiots are found all over the internet, unfortunately.
On the whole I think PH is one of the better forums with a lot of good information for the motoring enthusiast & on the whole it is well moderated. Unfortunately though, just by the amount of people that have joined there is going to be the element that spoils it for some people. These people are best ignored.
Maybe the op should concentrate on the good points about PH & not the bad.
