Why no car audio forum ?

The site has got the lot, with the exception of the above. Should there be one, would it be used or is everyone happy to go to other sites for reviews, experiences and guides ?

I should maybe have started a poll, but I didn't....

Well at least I got your opinion

We all spend a fair amount of time in our cars, I assume we listen to music there. Most OE systems are very lacking in quality. I thought that, since every man and his dog changes brakes, suspension etc that there may be an interest upgrading the sound system.

tbh for car audio your best off going to talkaudio.co.uk as it is a dedicated forum ofr car audio in the UK

A lot of modern cars are now coming with pretty good sound systems that will remove a large part of the car audio market.

Also as a lot of them are now integrated parts of the car (car computers/sat nav/ reversing cameras/ information screens, etc), people will be less inclined to change them.

Aye i was speaking toa JL tech type guy as he was giving some talks over here earlier in the week as it seems a good product as a lot of OEM headunits have nasty built in EQ'ing (IE low volume the bass is quite high up but as you turn it up the bass level goes down to protect the OEM door speakers) and the JL cuts it all out but they are not the only intergration device out there - from memory Rockford Fosgate do one where you can alter the eq settings and that from a PDA to make setting it up easier

I also wonder if an audio forum would just fill up with the 'big sub in the boot' brigade and we don't really want that on PH.

That's fair comment Garlick. Once you're past the reviews and fitting advice (which can be found easily elsewhere), all your left with is the "mine is so much bassier than yours" chavality.

That JL system looks the business btw, but it doesen't even have gold phono's and the purists would never stand for that

nowt wrong with a big sub in the boot - heck the back seats are coming out of mine to make space for the sub box for no other reason than I can - and I need the enclosure space as the boot is not big enough (I am not a chav before anyone says it, but there is something about low frequency throwing you round the cabin)

Well yea but its not exactly a good car for the daily slog up and down the motorway - big comfy seat, reasonable engine to pullt he weight and a stereo that can set off car alarms when Mars - the bringer of war is turned up will do me

Surely the entertainment system in a car can be a core component to some people, just as an engine/drivetrain/suspension can be?

Does PH attract the "K&N air filter gave me 10bhp" brigade or the "slammed suspension" brigade? I don't think it does, and I don't think there's any reason why an ICE forum would attract the "big sub in the boot" brigade. If it does, they'd just get bored and move on elsewhere.

Personally, I think it's a good idea. And for the record, yes I have an Alpine head unit but that was just so I could use the Bluetooth and Ipod functionality

If there becomes a demand for it then we will reconsider and can create one, but when was the last time you saw someone post a car audio question on PH? At the moment there are just not enough car audio topics to justify it.
