Right hi mods.
First let me point out i am not trying to start a fight with you here. I have no problem with you Stuart and didnt get to see all the ins and outs re qooquui on the RM thread which he was banned from. I felt however that you were possibly overly harsh in banning him from the topic as he has the right per se to air his opinion.
Yes he made a few stupid comments which if you wish to be silly sensitive could be taken badly such as calling people p**ko but surely a word in his ear Aka an email to warn him to watch himself should have sufficed and then if he didnt then ban him from topic for 24 hrs for ex ??
But more to the point here is the "how to steal a bmw" thread you just locked that i do take a big issue to. You say you spoke to the dealer in question who assure you they are mortified by the situation.
However from what the op has said they really couldnt care less other than limiting any cost/inconvenience to themselves and basically keep fobbing him off or trying to sell him a new car etc.
Sure the op could be exaggerating or even lying but so long as he stays within PH rules aka naming and shaming etc surely he is entitled to express his disgust and warn people about the issue hes had.
In my best guess/ opinion the dealership i expect simply paid lip service to you based on their apparent responses to the op as i assume you told them you were from ph and it was in their best interests to pretend to give a damn as they would expect you would then fight their corner on ph by doing things like locking the thread.
By locking the thread it will then drop into obscurity and the issue will be missed by many and forgotten by others. It also gives bmw and its dealers leeway to act as they wish with impunity.
I accept that Ph needs to protect itself but unless BMW have been waving lawyers at ph over the thread why lock it?

1. He isn't banned from the topic. The topic was closed.
2. I closed it because the comments from other PHers were veering towards naming and shaming, rather than out of any fear that the OP was going to do so.
3. Lawyers haven't waved any threats. We spoke to the dealership concerned, they gave their version of events. The story itself is of interest, which is why it hasn't been deleted in the way that such a thread normally would be, but we've locked it because it's hard to see what might be added to it beyond more posts condemning the dealer concerned, which would add nothing to the debate.

I was aware the op wasnt banned the banned op ref was regarding qooquii in RM thread. As for the bmw topic my main concern here Stuart is that the thread will drop into obscurity and the issue will be forgotten when it really shouldnt if this is a new crime technique forum members and manufacturers need to look out for.
We also wont find out whether the dealer actually sorts out the ops issues either which is important to people.

What do you mean by the RM thread? Sorry, but I'm a little bit confused by what you're getting at.
ETA - just because the forum thread is closed, it doesn't mean that this is the last you'll hear of it. However while we're waiting I didn't think it was particularly constructive to have 10 pages of "aren't BMW crap" posts. Not because I necessarily disagree, but simply because it doesn't advance the debate one bit, and creates a huge amount of work for moderators who need to keep checking on the content of the thread. It is this last point which is part of the reason why we tend to just delete N&S threads ordinarily - we've no time to keep checking on stuff.
On the subject of which, I'm not going to be around on this thread this evening or for most of tomorrow, so this will be my final comment on the matter.
