Why was my post pulled?

Hello Moderators,
I recently posted in the UK Club Motorsport section about the new MR2 Super GT series that starts in 2010. I am the series organiser, and I run a business that specialises in tuning MR2s. Now I can see why an initial reaction would be to consider that this post was an advert for a commercial venture. However, while I am the organiser the series is run by the 750 Motor Club and I have no financial involvement in that side of things. My post was a description of the series and an overview of the regulations with links to the website - I was hoping for feedback on the regulations which are still reasonably fluid at this stage. Was hoping for the kind of discussion as seen on the Porsche Boxster Championship thread (http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=198&t=659141&mid=135113&nmt=Boxster%20Championship%20for%202010)
Additionally, I'm surprised my post was pulled when the following haven't been (picked from the top of the forum right now):

This thread was created by a new member to advertise the Fiat Racing Challenge, every subsequent post has been in defence of the first and several other new members were created to back up the OP.

New member, one post advertising the BRSCC Porsche Championship.

It might have been worth sending your announcement to the news desk as it may then have been published as an article on the front page which would have then lead to a forum post for it ( that is down to the news editors though !!)
Advertising championships by the organisers is a bit of a grey area, as basically it is an Advert which are not allowed in the forums, but it is the kind of interesting thing that is useful in the motorsport forums.
Your post was pulled basically as someone reported it to the mods as an advert, which when you look at it, it is... you reported the other threads and they were judged by the same standard and pulled.
The situation about championship advertising has now been referred for further guidance in the long term.
