Smiles/format throws open new full tab ?

Using FF 3.5.5 clicking on the smilies or format tab, it opens a ful size new tab in FF.

Never used to do that, but I ve just fitted a new drive and latest FF, so is it a setting Ive missed ?

The smilies/formatting help links should open in a new window, not a new tab. I guess there is a setting in firefox which is causing them to open in a new tab instead, which will force them to be the same size as your other tabs.
