Why do all the links to youtube and some other sites now go through redirectingat.com, it's a real PITA on an iphone as youtube is an app that loads up, so the browser opens a new window to redirectingat.com and then loads the app up meaning you have to go back and close everything rather than just click done when the video finishes.

Ah, i see it's a revenue earner.

Can it please be set so that just youtube doesn't go through it, it might seem minor but it's a PITA having to close windows all the time on it.

It's not working for me tonight - every link I click dies while waiting for the redirectingat.com site.

I have to copy/paste the URL in the post to get to the page I want. Two thumbs down.

Okay, so how does this generate revenue for Haymarket?

I see that a link that I posted to a video, hosted on my own web space now goes through redirectingat.com, who does this help?

I'm not being provocative, but genuinely interested in the processes and reasons behind it.

I presume it helps sell advertising space on PH as a measure of readership, or it might be a cross referal system. For example, youtube gets ad revenue and PH may get a slice of it for directing traffice towards youtube. Similar for other reciprocal arrangements with other sites. Clearly links to your personal webspace won't help PH much, but the way the forum s/w works at present is that all links direct via redirectingat.com

I understand the affiliate programme, it was why my site was going through the system, I guess it's just a 'catch all' situation with the s/w.

Just a bump to say that I browse the full site on my iPhone so perhaps it could just be turned off for the iPhone browser string?

no other mobiles run YouTube as an external application though do they?
It's just that the link opens a new window then the phone recognises it as a YouTube video launches the YouTube player but when your done rather than going back to your ph thread it takes you to a blank page.

It is not an easy thing to turn off for one specific type of handset, but your comments have been taken on board and we will keep looking for a solution!

The other option would be to use the mobile site.....

The other option would be to use the mobile site.....

The mobile site isn't great though. You lose too much functionality.
