Just an idea.

How about a forum where members could post details regarding cars they are chopping in as trade ins. Obviously steps need to be taken to avoid abuse, however it would be good to give people the chance to pass their cars onto other members instead of getting a low bid from a dealer, who then puts them through the auctions, etc, etc.

Obviously this needs to be be carefully implemented, however, I can see that it could be seen to take away revenue from the classifieds section if not

Doesn't sound a winner to me, why not put them on the classifieds?

The idea came up in the bargain Saab thread.

The idea was more based on people who didn't want the hassle of having a bunch of random people turning up and wasting a bunch of time so they were PXing, however they could put it on here to let other members take it for the same (or mildly increased price)

Knowing car buyers as I do I am afraid people will still mess about even if they are buying a car at a trade price.

I see your point but I still think the classifieds are the best place for this kind of thing. As well as posting wanted adverts you can add what you want as a part-ex to your advert and this is searchable by other members, making it the easiest way to make a match.
