phone safe tel cost

hi any one know if with these tel nos have a cut of point think a call was made and poss not hung up properly...time was around 85 mins although didnt get to speak to other end but a recroded message have these nos a time cut of period any ideas thanks

If you're asking if you didn't hang up properly and are now worried about getting charged, i think phone safe just connect two numbers secretly, so it would be up to your service provider whether you get cut off or not.

Can you have a look at your bill and see what the duration of the call was? In the meantime I'll ask the same of the people at Phonesafe, and whether there is a cut off.

what is the phonesafe thing, i get the impression its a premium rate coneection thing, and to be honest i wont use, i always email?

I think it's the advertiser as they're the ones protected from known people offering services. Not 100% though.

Socnow much is it, total scam if you ask me and the reason why many people put thier numbers in the actual ads.

Is the option there to not use it, certainly was previously or is it mandatory?

I guess this is what happens when PH is bought over by a profit making organisation..

I won't reply to an ad if it has Phone safe scam on principle. I was trying to find my friend a car last year and when the phone bill came in the cost of those calls was the wrong side of £10

On one hand PH is offering free basic adds but on the other they are screwing the punters that are looking to buy. I know it's still upto the seller whether they want to use Phonesafe but ethically I still don't think it's right. PH now has over 50k adverts on the site, and I would guess that a quarter are premium ads. I wonder if the Premium ads could also cover the cost of phonesafe so the buyer doesn't have to? There must be another option which doesn't cost as much as that. It's feels like having a speedcamera in your classifieds

Phonesafe is used on many larger classified sites these days, and is within the strict guidelines set out by industry regulator Phone Pay Plus. We at PHHQ thought long and hard about introducing the service, but the benefits it offers to the seller was hard to ignore with all of the problems associated with publicising your phone number on the internet.

However, we realised the not everyone would want to use it so the e mail contact option remains very prominent as an alternative. We also know that PS can be used to make initial contact only, with 'normal' phone numbers being exchanged within minutes of the call. I guess a certain amount of trust is given to the user of the service, and after viewing the costs (click the logo to see) they make up their own minds as to how they want to use the service.

In answer to the other points raised about the commercial nature of PH, of course we look to make money. Running the biggest car website is a business and it always has been. BUT, we don't expect to make fortunes, we think VERY carefully before implementing any commercial activity, we work hard to keep the site true to PH values and we try not to affecting the experience of PH in any way.

As an example we still offer free premium ads to all long term members of the site, and a free option remains for all. This level of consideration is vitally important to PH and always will be, not just within the classifieds, but across the entire site.

It was completely wrong on every level because what I was meaning to say is Phonesafe is screwing the punters... sorry PH that was a genuine mistake.

Agree but a lot of people buy on impulse and want an immediate reply and email is not always like that.

I suggested to her that she look on PH and I completely forgot about Phonesafe. One month later when her bill came in she rang me to ask why she had a charge of over £10 from Phonesafe as a premium rate number. I should have warned her but I was the person recommending her this site and it was somewhat embarrassing.

NOTE: To all the mods, Garlic, 'Ted' etc, I apologise for that statement, it was a case of open mouth first and engage brain second without proof reading before I posted it. I fully appreciate the commercial changes that the site has undergone, and having lived through from the early days I'm not doing a good job of accepting the changes. I like this site very much and have contributed quite a few ideas to Ted about style, layout, and commercial aspects in the past. I am quite proud to be a member of it, but I did find the Phonesafe 'feature' rather Dick Turpin.
