I think a lot of people may use the same password on different subscription websites so they dont forget it.This persons favourite password may be more then 8 characters long and so it cannot be used on here, just my take on it, i may be completely wrong

I should have phrased it so...

"Hi Ted,
I have a regular password that I use for all my internet accounts (possibly not a good idea, but hey, if I had different one for every internet site that required one I'd have to write them down - that'd surely be worse?) but it is more than 8 chacters. Would there be any chance of extending the password field to accept a greater number of characters?"
