Improvement - See thread when replying?

Just a thought. Is there any way to tweek the forum so that you can see previous posts when you reply? Even seeing the original post and the last 2 or 3 would be quite useful. I've seen it on other forums so it is definitely possible.

Anyone else think this would be good?

I second that request - I have a memory like a goldfish at the best of times and if I want to quote multiple people in my post I can never remember the user names, or who said what.

Just open up the reply screen in a new tab ??

A lot of the posts on here are long and have lots of detail so by the time I have written the reply I've forgotten what all the exact details were.

Open the reply in a different tab, you can then flick between the two.

Yeah but most of the time I'm at work which still uses IE6 so it doesn't have tabs. I've seen this on other forums (bike chat forum comes to mind) so it is clearly possible...

Its clearly possible on other forum software which allows this. PH is bespoke code, so its not going to be as easy as ticking a config box, and restarting.

PS Do remind your work that IE6 goes out of support on XP SP2 this month...

Its only a suggestion, I thought that was what this section was for. I'm just saying that I saw it elsewhere and I thought it was a good idea.

Its is what this section is for, and dont feel bad for posting. I certainly dont work for Haymarket, just chipping my personal two pennorth in You never know, its might be on Mr Will's List Of Things To Do.

Don't feel bad for posting, we always welcome suggestions and we have seen far sillier ones than this!

We purposefully try to keep PH as a very clean and clutter free design, so this isn't something we are likely to add, especially as most people now have tabbed browsing.

What I can suggest as a partial workaround is to press quote on the post you are replying to so that it appears in the reply box, and then delete the quote once you have written your reply.
