Logging out - or rather being logged out by site?

Has a new feature come in that automatically kicks people off? I used to be able to keep logged in for months - now I'm lucky if it's a day!

If you tick the "Remember Me" box then you should stay logged in for 90 days. If you don't then it will log you out at the end of your session.

If it isn't working like this then try clearing your PH cookies and then logging back it, that normally sorts it.

OK, this is still happening - on average once a week. Remember me is ticked, cookie was deleted and re-done, and it's still happening. Private computer, using IE.

Next time it happens, can you check to make sure you haven't switched from www.pistonheads.com to one of the alternate URLs (i.e. www.pistonheads.co.uk or http://pistonheads.com).

Your computer regards each one as a different site, so you will need to stick to one or be logged in to each one separately.

Last one was just before I posted - I have clicked 'back' out of the Sagaris section under TVR, and clicked into the Thames Valley & Surrey section - it was there it showed me as logged out. I'm currently under the .com domain, but will keep my eyes open.

Had something similiar , using Firefox; one of the plugins was buggy causing this issue. Worth trying to update your plugins if using Firefox ? Specific plugins in this case was InvisibleHand.

It seems like something on your PC is causing problems with your cookies. What add-ons are you running and do you have an anti-spyware software?

No real plug-ins (using IE8, latest updates etc), with Norton 360 (ditto).

I do layer from hardware attack, but I'm an IS specialist, and do know what I'm doing (sometimes), in that arena.

IME Norton is terrible for interfering where it doesn't belong, so it might be something to do with your problems. Do you have another browser (such as Chrome) you can try to see if it does the same or if it is only happening in IE8?

THIS is happening to me too, but I think my problem is caused by my last PC dying on startup and never returning to life

Am I correct in thinking the system thinks the machine I'm logging in on now is not my main one and will need the earlier log-in to expire some time

Could you log me off the original machine, dead with so many of my pictures inside it, so that the next time I log in it is clean and will let me become regular with this machine

Or doesnt it work this way?

(I'm getting at some of my files by running my old hard drive as slave in this one, but it's along winded process. Six or more years of stuff in it )

It doesn't work that way, there is nothing in the PH system which cares how many different places you are logged in from. Have you tried clearing your cookies and then logging back in yet?

I wangled my way round the internet settings doodah and cleaned out zillions of old cookies and stuff (can you tell I'm a mechanic not a computer buff?) and have just logged in

Next time I log in we can see how it has gone

This is a salvaged motherboard and hard drive I use because of my other problems, fingers crossed, just at present a new computer isnt on my horizon.

the new machine does have a security setup

I'll beetle off and check its settings
