The 'go to new posts' arrow - why does it not appear when clicking on the thread group links i.e. 'Pie & Piston' & 'Other Marques' etc?

It's a bug which should (hopefully) be fixed in the next update.

It's one of those features that I never bothered with in the past but now use constantly.....
