Mods - I'm sick of BS headlines and links going back to this dog 5hit newspaper. However I appreciate that others like to discuss the Daily Mail's headlines etc.. Fair Play.
Can't we have a subforum in News, Politics & Economics called "Daily Mail" etc...?
Good idea no?
You can say what you like, but i read the DM for 20 years and i've been on PH for... well, you can look left and see. But I can tell you quite categorically that the views expressed in the DM and on PH are exactly the bloody same, to the letter almost. Can't we have a subforum in News, Politics & Economics called "Daily Mail" etc...?
Good idea no?
The only difference is that PH is far more right wing. There's more balance in the Mail.
I always read the daily mail and MOS when I first got my own place a few years ago as I liked the supplements. In the end their obsession with putting Gate as a suffix to every fking mini scandal to develop put paid to that and I now read the Times. Unsurprisingly, I don't get indignant at every trivial problem in life nowadays.
Does this mean I can't post a link to a picture of Anthea Turner in a leotard?

My in laws, who I have known since 1984, always took the DM, and could never understand my scorn for it, not just mine, but everyone else in the family too (nowt to do with politics either). Their taking and digesting of the DM has always been a bit of a running joke/issue of contention within the family.
A few months back, I discovered that they don't read it anymore. The penny has finally dropped, and for my FIL in particular, an about turn on this level is not insignificant. It is like the veil has been lifted. They are actually quite stunned they hadn't seen it earlier, and feel a mix of shame, embarrassment, shock and even anger, especially with all the ribbing from us over the years.
I just wish the veil could be lifted from all the others too, but it's a tricky one to explain, until you just 'click' as my in laws did, and then you get it
It's a fking hateful despicable mean spirited nasty rag, all the very very worst of spiteful little England. Petrol Ted once described it as 'deeply damaging to the country' which was very well put. It is one of the few things I genuinely loathe.
All IMHO of course

I've always thought you would actually notice the difference in this country if the DM were not published for 6 months. I reckon people might actually behave better and be a bit less angry and chippy all the time.
Maybe the DM does publish lies and propaganda, but that mud ain't 'alf sticky...
