Calm down, it'll be from a network.

It's quite likely that either you, or someone using your computer, has looked at sites with audience demographics that More target. Hence why you're shown the advert.

Or that you're computer has visited the More website recently.

So regardless of what sites I look at, ads will follow me around to sites with no relevance to me, based on where else the PC has looked?

Does that mean that the piece of the PH homepage that the MORE ad popped up on, remains blank in the Matrix and simply flashes up a suitable ad to my PC whenever I look at it?

Pretty much.

Whenever there is an ad-slot which our sales team have not managed to fill with a suitably PH advert, it will be filled with a network advert and these are targeted based on (amongst other things) what sites your computer has visited recently.

We can still ban any specific advert if we feel it is necessary, but precisely who gets what adverts will depend on the sites you visit.

I've been looking at various car manufacturer's sites quite a lot today.

So all the pages I go on are mainly showing car related adverts. Which is ok with me!

You would be staggered to know how much of what you're presented with is "behaviourally targeted" online. We only use it for some of our ad code and we resisted it for as long as possible.

If done well, it can be a useful thing though. Would you object if our classified search tool were to suggest interesting stuff from the database based on what you'd been searching for, for example?

Ideally you'd have different logins for each of your on your PC, then you'll have seperate cookies and thus seperate adverts.
